• Genius Bonus: In their first scene, Burke and Hare are almost lynched by an angry mob for trying to pass off cheese mold as "Donegal Moss," a miracle cure for warts and boils. Since antibiotics were originally derived from Penicillium molds, it is possible they were actually - if accidentally - in possession of a genuine medical breakthrough greater than any of the surgical discoveries in the film, rendering their entire brutal career utterly unnecessary, had they but known.
