YMMV / Buffy the Vampire Slayer S 3 E 8 "Lover's Walk"

Go To

  • Franchise Original Sin: Couch Baron's Television Without Pity recap (recap written after season 6 aired) regretfully pointed out Willow trying to do a spell on someone (Xander this time) without their consent, and Spike blaming his Badass Decay on women (Drusilla).
  • Harsher in Hindsight:
    • The viewers are made to believe Cordelia died. Compare that with the Angel episode "You're Welcome", where the viewers are made to believe that Cordelia is alive.
    • Willow attempts to use magic to solve a relationship problem and without Xander's consent. She does this again in season six and it has disastrous consequences.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: Spike's speech about Angel and Buffy's doomed relationship is a far better description of Spike and Buffy's future (tumultuous) relationship than it is of any other relationship on the show.
"You're not friends. You'll never be friends. You'll be in love till it kills you both. You'll fight, and you'll shag, and you'll hate each other till it makes you quiver, but you'll never be friends. Love isn't brains, children, it's blood...blood screaming inside you to work its will. I may be love's bitch, but at least I'm man enough to admit it."
  • Tear Dryer: The ending montage of the characters depressed and the major relationships seemingly in tatters is followed by Spike merrily blasting rock music from his car radio as he drives off to find Drusilla.
