  • Adorkable: Brok has a couple of moments where he comes off as an endearing goofball, such as when he tries to guess a tarp-covered machine at Shay's garage.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Dr. Mink, a character who only appears in Chapter 4, is extremely popular in the fandom.
  • What Do You Mean, It's Not for Kids?: Despite its cartoony design, the game has some rather dark themes and moments, as the game includes death, swearing and violence to name a few.
  • The Woobie:
    • The titular character. His loving wife had died in a fire, forcing him and his stepson to relocate to the slums where he is plagued with nightmares about the incident, leaving him unable to solve the case behind her mysterious death no matter how hard he tried. Then he inevitably makes things worse in his main cases and the people around him who blame him for ruining their lives (and result in their deaths, if he's unable to save them), adding to his Guilt Complex. In the canonical ending, his stepson leaves him because of everything that's happened, and he learns that his Best Friend sacrificed her existence out of love for him.
    • Graff. In the majority of endings, he usually ends up with severe emotional damage, mourning the death of a loved one or worse. His adorable character design, sensitive personality and self-esteem issues only amplify his status as one.
