- Hilarious in Hindsight: Tortuga, played by Danny Trejo, meets his end when he's decapitated with a machete. Come 2010...
- Though it's worth noting that the original Machete concept originates from a fake trailer in the 2007 film Grindhouse. In that sense, it amounts to more of a Shout-Out.
- The exploding tortoise taking out 3 DEA goons when one of them touched the decapitated head of Tortuga may bring ASDF Movie's mine turtles to mind.
- Memetic Mutation: The last lines of the chorus of Negro y Azul: The Ballad of Heisenberg: "Ese compa ya está muerto / Nomás no le han avisado" ("That homie's already dead / He just wasn't warned about it yet"), became a Latin American meme used mostly for situations when someone says something they shouldn't/something really stupid to someone else, mostly their love partner or their parents, earning a ticket to their doom by the receptor.
- Too Cool to Live: Tortuga. A decapitated-head-turtle bomb was a bit of a downer note for his subplot.
