- Awesome Music:
- Michelle Branch's haunting cover of America's "A Horse With No Name," which scores the Cold Open.
- The haunting rendition of "I Will Always Think of You" sang by Honey and Eddie.
- He Really Can Act:
- After two seasons of playing Beatrice as an embittered and irredeemable mother, Wendie Malick shines as a cheerful and innocent young Bea.
- Jane Krakowski, while mostly known for her wackier comedic roles on 30 Rock and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, is absolutely heartbreaking as Honey Sugarman.
- One-Scene Wonder:
- Paul Giamatti as TV-Movie BoJack.
- Lin-Manuel Miranda has one scene as Crackerjack Sugarman, but his role leaves a huge impact on Beatrice’s backstory.
- Tear Jerker:
- "Why, I have half a mind..."
- Honey's entire situation after CrackerJack's death is even worse if you think about it from a modern-day perspective. She never learned any coping skills, and with therapy not being a common thing in the 1940s, Joseph being unwilling to learn about "womanly emotions", and, from what's implied, a lack of a social life or friends, she was really alone. Honey didn't need a lobotomy, what she really needed was support. Without it, it's no wonder things turned out the way they did.
