- Awesome Music: Don't Be Cruel was considered to be the New Jack Swing equivalent to Thriller until Michael Jackson himself came along and made one. Bobby has its fair share of jams as well.
- Fanon Discontinuity: While his last two albums might be a toss-up, King Of Stage is universally seen as inferior to Don't Be Cruel and Bobby and is often ignored by fans.
- It's the Same, Now It Sucks!: King Of Stage was panned due to it essentially being a New Edition album, minus the rest of the band.
- Signature Song: All of his singles were released between 1988-1993, but the standout is "My Prerogative".
