- Badass Decay: Crazy Bob Backlund was a sight to see while it lasted, but after his feud with Bret Hart ended (in an underwhelming Wrestlemania XI match), he started a goofy storyline where he ran for president, and more or less played a harmless nutjob ever since.
- Hilarious in Hindsight: The "I feel like God" promo at Survivor Series 1994, where he discussed (as only Bob Backlund can) that he wanted to bring morality back to wrestling. Yeah..... that didn't happen.
- Moral Event Horizon: Snapping at Bret Hart was one thing, but Bob's Face–Heel Turn was cemented when he did this
. - Narm/Narm Charm: After getting hit with Kevin Nash's (wrestling as Diesel) Jackknife power bomb in their 8 second match at Madison Square Garden, Backlund crawled all the way back to the locker room. Nash, for his part, greatly appreciated it and has said that Backlund doing that sold the move as a devastating finisher more than anyone else had at that point.
- They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: Crazy Bob horrified the young WWE audience, and became one of the most noteworthy happenings of 1994. One can only imagine what kind of havoc Backlund would have continued with had Diesel not been given the belt so quickly, and it wasn't too long after that the Badass Decay set in.
- X-Pac Heat: Towards the end of his first World championship run, fans were getting bored of him, openly cheering for the heels and wishing someone else would win the title. Only losing to The Iron Shiek got the fans on his side. It was so bad, that Wrestling Observer Newsletter called him still being champion in 1982 their "Most Disgusting Promotional Tactic" and "Most Overrated Wrestler" in 1983.
