YMMV / Blue's Room

Go To

  • Broken Base: Fans of the original are split over this series, mainly due to Blue suddenly having the ability to talk and whether it was a good thing or not.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Sprinkles, Blue's baby brother introduced in the second season. Even fans of the original who either weren't Blue's Room fans or didn't see the series find him adorable.
  • Moe: The puppet characters all look adorable, especially Blue and Sprinkles.
  • Older Than They Think: Blue's being able to talk is a big deal in this series. What many viewers didn't know though is that she and Magenta were already able to talk in a number of the later book releases of Blue's Clues, such as the book based on Magenta Gets Glasses, or Blue's Checkup.
  • Retroactive Recognition: Leslie Carrara-Rudolph, who puppeteered Blue in Season 1, would later go on to play Abby Cadabby.
  • So Okay, It's Average: In general, it's a pretty harmless preschool show, but unlike the original when it was airing, didn't have anything too memorable to make it stand out among similar shows.
  • They Changed It, Now It Sucks!: Blue suddenly having the ability to speak and the original characters being switched out for a new cast of characters didn't go over with many fans.
  • Tough Act to Follow: The original series was one of the most successful and innovative preschool shows when it was airing, lasted ten years (or eight, if not counting "Meet Blue's Baby Brother" or "Behind the Clues: 10 Years with Blue"), and is still fondly remembered today along with receiving a reboot in 2019. Blue's Room was unable to match its success with only two seasons over two and a half years.
  • Vindicated by History: While many longtime fans of the original weren't too fond of the series when it was on, in recent years the audience who watched it in the mid 2000s tend to fondly look back on it and find it to be good on its own merits, if not on the levels of the original series.
