YMMV / Bloodivores

Go To

  • Ass Pull: Cho Ifen's survival and later on being the partner of Lou Yao, whereas she was last seen with a monster leaping at her, and her body lying unconscious on the floor while somebody (or something) drags her away from the camera's point of view. It also doesn't help that none of the cast even bothered to ask how she even survived in the first place, and how she ended up with Lou Yao.
  • Awesome Music: The opening theme "Resonate With Me -TWISTING-" / "Yu Wo Gongming -NENTEN-" is a rather catchy one, due to being sung by Mili, and it also comes in both a Japanese and Chinese vocals by the same singer, and in the same tune, all while being upbeat.
  • Fan Nickname: Usually derived from the characters who are almost look-alikes or possess the similar abilities:
    • "Kaneki Ken" for Mi Liu for their similar white-haired, black clothing appearances, for sharing the protagonist status in their home series based around Ghouls (Tokyo Ghoul) and Vampires (Bloodivores) that crave for flesh and blood, and for being a half-breed that blends the qualities of both the human and non-human races.
    • "Long-haired Saitama" for Lou Yao after his Establishing Character Moment demonstrates his Super-Strength with him casually trashing the monsters with just his bare hands, his first kill even that of a single backhand.
    • "Loli Shinobu" for Yaya due to their long blonde hair.
  • Ho Yay: The interactions between Lou Yao and Lee Shin, given that they claim to be long acquaintances. This is seen when they reunite in the warehouse where Lee Shin attacks Lou Yao knowing the threat he possesses, but Lou Yao just gleefully plays along with him in hand-to-hand combat, and when he had Lee Shin cornered, he even mock bites his neck, much to the latter's annoyance. On the later half of the anime, Lou Yao shows that he has at least some concern for Lee Shin when his hemomancy powers awakened for the first time.
  • Narm: Mainly due to the several plot inconsistencies requiring some sense of Willing Suspension of Disbelief, the below-average animation, the subar sound or a mix of the mentioned cases, and there are a lot of them:
    • Lee Shin's fight scene against the monsters in the warehouse, the choppy animation aside, the slashing sound effect doesn't even properly sync to when he strikes the monsters.
    • At that time where there is still one monster attacking the inmates, two of the bloodivores are seen pointing their guns on opposite directions.
    • Mi Liu taking a lot of time looking at data from his supercomputer wrist while Anji is lying on the ground bleeding.
    • Chen Fong. The guy spends like 90% of his screentime shirtless no matter the time or situation. It even makes Lou Yao laugh and amused. And on the last episodes, he has a katana lodged in his shoulder, yet just casually acts as if nothing is out of the ordinary, for dozens of minutes!
  • So Bad, It's Good: Ho boy, this anime is infamously unfavored by viewers due to its abundance of Adaptation-Induced Plot Hole and Asspulls, subpar animation and sound quality, overused lingering shots and a scarcity of unique facial expressions. Its only seen saving grace are the catchy opening and ending songs, the former of which is sung by Mili.
  • Special Effect Failure: While the 3D CG vehicles in Episode 1's Chase Scene are glaring enough as it is, there is also the part where a rammed vehicle gets stuck in mid-air in slow-motion to evoke a dramatic effect, but it is out-of-place as the other cars passing by below it are in normal speeds, while the said floating vehicle is still in slow-motion for no reason.
  • Spoiled by the Format: Episode 1 ends with the four protagonists being sentenced to death, while a SWAT team ambushes their vehicle and unloads bullets on the four, and later on a P.O.V. Cam from Mi Liu's perspective of being shot. It later makes as though the four are now dead, with the story now seemingly shifting to Mi Tenju's. But nope, the next episode preview casually reveals that Mi Liu and his friends are alive, waking up in a strange warehouse.
