YMMV / Blakes Seven S 4 E 13 Blake

  • Alternative Character Interpretation: Who betrayed who - did Blake betray Avon, did Avon betray Blake, or did they betray each other?
  • He's Just Hiding: There are plenty of fans who contend this about one or more characters, arguing that none of the crew besides Blake was seen bleeding after being shot and that he could have been lying about Jenna's death. Various Schrödinger's Canon tie in materials add to this feeling.
  • The Scrappy: Arlen is widely regarded as the episode's major weak point, in part due to Sasha Mitchell's terrible acting, and also because she's a complete nobody who nonetheless ends up responsible for the final downfall of the main characters by acting as The Mole and setting the Federation's forces on Blake's base. Adding insult to injury, she's the only Federation officer in the series aside from Servalan or Travis (not counting the troopers in this episode's final moments) who succeeds in killing a main character.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: Some fans bemoan the fact that Servalan was not there for the final showdown to either gloat, be killed by Avon (or both). This was a case of studio budget writing the plot. Jaqueline Pearce was contracted for a certain number of episodes and that number had run out. And the BBC did not want to negotiate the significant expense for an extra episode beyond that. Also, for all anyone knew, the show may have been renewed for a fifth season where Pearce's contract might be renewed. It happened before (at the end of Season C where Servalan was at least given what could be a convincing demise scene under the circumstances) but the show's luck, as with the Seven themselves, had run out.
