- Accidental Innuendo: Avon teleports down to confront Servalan, saying he's guessed her Evil Plan and delivering a blatant death threat. He then calls for Cally to teleport him up again. Unfortunately, Paul Darrow and Jacqueline Pearce decided on their own initiative to acknowledge their character's Foe Romance Subtext by having Avon grab Servalan for a passionate "Take That!" Kiss. So when Avon then tells Cally he's ready to come up now...
- Angst? What Angst?: Servalan appears in fine form regardless of her Near-Rape Experience in "Moloch" and Despair Event Horizon in "Rumours of Death", though she still wears black after the events of "Children of Auron". Instead she's plotting to increase the size of her empire, carrying out diplomatic missions instead of being Frontline General all the time, and is even sizing up Avon as a potential ally. Though for someone like her, increasing her power is likely her way of coping with any sense of vulnerability. This is confirmed in "Sand".
- Ho Yay:
- The rather Camp director and announcer who bicker Like an Old Married Couple, and may actually be an old married couple.
- Meanwhile, Max seems to get very attached to Deeta, very quickly.
- WTH, Costuming Department?: The huge shoulder pads on Avon's leather jacket. Fans named the look 'Tugboat Avon'.
