• Awesome Music: The anime's soundtrack. "Team Scarlet" and "Seirei Tsukai No Bladedance Main Theme" are two standouts.
• Captain Obvious Reveal: It's not hard to figure out that the fake Ren Ashbell is actually Rubia Elstein. There are no Red Herrings and her reactions when Claire is brought up are a very obvious giveaway.
• Cliché Storm: The quote below from the Baka-Tsuki forums pretty much sums it up. Hilarious in Hindsight ensues when it was revealed, in the final volume of The Familiar of Zero light novels, that Yū Shimizu was the author chosen to write the final two volumes after the passing of its original author:
  "Basically, it smells like IS, it tastes like HnA, it feels like Seikoku no Dragonar, it sounds like Campione! and it looks like ZnT. Basically, it is Seirei Tsukai no Blade Dance."
• Growing the Beard: The general consensus seems to be that the series truly kicks into gear once the Blade Dance gets started.
• Memetic Mutation:
  • Kamito's unwanted nickname of "Demon King of the Night" is popular both in and out of universe. Just adding "of the Night" to anything seems to make it sound like an euphemism.
  • In the Est department:
    • "You can't spell 'best' without Est"
    • Bringing up her age in regards to...*ahem*...legality. "She's several hundred years old, so it's totally okay!"
• Moe: Est is so moe that she wins 12 out of 13 popularity polls.
