YMMV / Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk

Go To

  • Dancing Bear: The movie is more known for being the first feature film to be projected at 120 FPS, despite the fact that very few theatres around the world were able to do that and that there are no home releases supporting that framerate. The Ultra HD Blu-Ray release only goes up to 60 FPS. This and Gemini Man, also by Ang Lee, are the only two films that go up to 120 FPS.
  • Hollywood Homely: The film really wants us to believe that a lightly scarred Kristen Stewart is not someone most people would have sex with.
  • Unintentional Uncanny Valley: An issue many critics and viewers had with the film is that shooting in 4K at 120fps meant that the cameras captured the wobbles and tics that the human face and body exhibit naturally but are automatically filtered out by the brain, ironically making the experience seem more unnatural than what Ang Lee intended.
