• Audience-Alienating Era: While the year 2000 was a horrible time for WCW all around, Kidman had some significantly bad feuds. In fact, The Wrestling Observer Newsletter named his feud with Hulk Hogan "Worst Feud of the Year." His feud with Shane Douglas over Torrie Wilson, centering as it did around Viagra and which saw the revival of the dreaded Scaffold Match, was pretty lame too.
• Badass Decay: His feud with Hulk Hogan was this for both men. After the heat between Hogan and Kidman started, the bookers decided to put Kidman over Hogan, but Hogan refused to sell anything Kidman did. So most of the Hogan/Kidman matches consisted of Hogan whaling on Kidman to the point that it resembled child abuse, then some bigger guy (often Kidman's stablemate Mike Awesome) would do some sort of run-in to allow Kidman to get the win. Kidman came off looking both horrible and stupid because he wouldn't quit picking fights with a guy he literally couldn't get any offense on, but Hogan didn't get anything out of the angle either since he kept losing via Deus ex Machina.
• Memetic Mutation:
  • "YOU CAN'T POWERBOMB KIDMAN!"
  • Having the worst shooting star press in professional wrestling.
• Strawman Has a Point: Was very reluctant to use his shooting star press after injuring Chavo Guerrero, even calling out the fans who wanted him to use it. This didn't stop him from using it once he turned heel.
