YMMV / Bill Cosby: Himself

Go To

  • Harsher in Hindsight: He makes two jokes about killing his son, Ennis, both of which can be seen as this after Ennis was murdered in January 1997. This line in particular: "I don't think the boy is going to live much longer." Indeed he didn't, as Ennis was murdered shortly after the special was released.
  • Older Than They Think: Some of the more remembered bits from this special, such as the "Jesus Christ and Dammit" joke and the entire "Dentists" routine, were previously done on My Father Confused Me... What Must I Do? What Must I Do? in 1977.
  • Values Dissonance: Naturally, any jokes about his children receiving parental corporal punishment might be this today. It is not mitigated by the claim that it was their mother who whooped them.
