- Contested Sequel: Depending on who you ask, either it's an inferior and overly silly rehash of the 1958 original, or it's a decent sequel that's worthwhile thanks to the improved blob effects, increased emphasis on humor, and parade of cameos.
- Ensemble Dark Horse: Everybody remembers Sam the Kitten, mainly for being totally adorable and his horrific demise at the hands of the Blob.
- Retroactive Recognition: Cindy Williams appears as the hippie girlfriend of Randy the singer/guitarist.
- Tear Jerker: The scene where Sam the Kitten gets devoured by the Blob is downright heartwrenching especially for cat lovers, we even hear his terrified mewing as the poor baby gets dragged out of the window to be eaten.
