• Alternative Character Interpretation:
  • Was Thingol being truthful when he said he desired possessing one Silmaril or he was just pretending to want one to justify his Engagement Challenge? Further complicating matters is the fact that in the "Tale of Tinúviel" he was just joking when he told Beren to go and bring one.
  • What exactly were Celegorm's intentions with Lúthien? Did he intend to wed and bed her entirely against her will, or did he delude himself into believing Lúthien would come to love him back?
