• Awesome Music - The Satanist start to finish. No wonder why it is considered the band's masterpiece. Demigod is also essential listening, same with Zos Kia Cultus, I Loved You at Your Darkest and Evangelion.
• Broken Base: I Loved You at Your Darkest falls into this as a result of introducing clean singing to the band's repertoire.
• Germans Love David Hasselhoff - the band is well-respected abroad, but in Poland, they are regarded by general public as a laughingstock. So they were never accepted in their country?
• Heartwarming Moments - Nergal's response to the fan outpouring of support for him when ill, and the large number of fans who became bone marrow donors at Nergal's urging.
• Memetic Mutation: Back when Evangelion was announced, there were plenty of album cover parodies involving Neon Genesis Evangelion, especially in the overlap between anime/manga fans and metal fans.
• Moment of Awesome:
  • Basically sweeping the 2009 Terrorizer Magazine readers poll, winning Best Live Band, Best Bassist, Best Guitarist, Best Drummer, Best Vocalist, Personality of the Year, Best Album and Best Cover Art
  • Nergal managing to survive leukemia, laughing all the while at those who believed the possibility of death would make him reconsider his anti-theistic views.
  • The spoken word monologue at the end of "O Father O Satan O Sun".
• Narm:
  • While not universal, some find the facepaint and body armour too over-the-top.
  • The first lyric of "Blow Your Trumpets Gabriel": I SAW THE VIRGIN'S CUNT SPAWNING FORTH THE SNAKE!!!
  • The usage of "Ov" for several lyrics/song titles will cause some groans.
  • They'll usually go into Narm Charm due to how delightfully they do their shows and music.
• Nightmare Fuel: Almost all of their music and music videos qualify, with lyrics referencing extreme Satanism. The worst contenders for videos include “Lucifer” and “Blow Your Trumpets Gabriel”.
• Overshadowed by Controversy: Behemoth has become this in recent years due to Nergal's Attention Whore attitude, not helped when he bluntly showed off on Instagram is disdain towards Antifa, which prompted many Antifa followers to accuse him of racism and Nazism (especially due to his friendship with fellow controversial band Graveland leader Rob Darken).
• The Scrappy: It's generally agreed among detractors and even some fans that Nergal is the weakest link of the band, due to his Attention Whore tendencies and turning the band into his cash cow.
• Signature Song: Prior to The Satanist it was "Conquer All" from Demigod, nowadays it's "Ora Pro Nobis Lucifer" with "Blow Your Trumpets Gabriel" being a close second.
• They Changed It, Now It Sucks! - Some of the old fans were not happy about the move to blackened death metal along with the improved quality.
• Tough Act to Follow: Averted. Although most people expected I Loved You at Your Darkest to succumb to this trope due to it following the universally acclaimed The Satanist, it actually ended up continuing the success of its predecessor.
