- Awesome Music: "Lost Stars" is absolutely beautiful. Most of the music for the movie was written by Gregg Alexander and Danielle Brisebois, the two members of the beloved 1990s One-Hit Wonder duo New Radicals. Alexander, a famously Reclusive Artist, sings many of the songs himself on the official soundtrack, marking his first officially released studio recordings since the band broke up in 1999.
- Germans Love David Hasselhoff: The film was insanely popular in Korea, with 41% of the film's box office proceedings coming from the country, more than any other one in the world.
- Spiritual Successor: To Carney's first film, Once, with which it shares the basic plot of people bonding together over creating music.
