YMMV / Beast Wars II

Go To

  • Ass Pull: Sadly happens quite a few times, such as in "Starscream's Demise" where Starscream and BB use their desperation move Formation Scream that completely obliterates the landscape and catches the Maximals off-guard... only for the Maximals to emerge completely unharmed with a bullshit "we took cover" excuse. To stress how this stretched credulity, Formation Scream left the entire area a flattened wasteland, and the Maximals emerged from underground.
    • Likewise, in "Gigastorm's Betrayal" the Maximals were sealed into a Predacon base that then exploded due to Angolmois overload. The entire mountain was completely totaled but the Maximals not only survived, they were in good enough shape to fight off the Predacons right after.
  • Comedy Ghetto: Some Western fans reject the series due to it taking on the Denser and Wackier approach of Beast Wars' Japanese Gag Dub.
  • Fandom-Enraging Misconception: No, the toy-only characters from the Beast Wars toyline did not originate from here, the Palette Swap characters actually come from the former.
  • Never Live It Down: Apache gets drunk in the first episode while drowning his sorrows from thinking that he killed Lio Convoy, but then never gets drunk again. Yet you will still find people who assume that he is a drunkard as per the stereotype of Native Americans as heavy drinkers. Note that while Beast Wars II does have some potentially offensive stereotypes, Apache is not one of them.
  • Retroactive Recognition: A fan dub of the series featured Cristina Vee as the voice of Artemis.
  • The Scrappy: The Jointrons, mostly because their actions often have life-threatening consequences to their own allies. Even the other Maximals (sans Lio Convoy) can't stand them, and only work with the Jointrons because they're on the same side.
  • Values Dissonance: The entire plot of episode 9 is that several of the characters get drunk and try to kill each other. Even with the G-Rated Drug use, this episode would probably not be allowed to air on a kids show in America for prominently displaying alcohol consumption.
  • Vindicated by History: It and Beast Wars Neo are the most obscure Transformers-related media that no one talks about it. Thanks to Transformers: Generations Selects Special Comic, the manga recontextualizes why Earth became Gaia, and Unicron becoming the Big Bad and ultimately the Final Boss of the Japanese G1 timeline.
