YMMV / Batman Beyond (Rebirth)

Go To

  • Broken Base: Over whether or not the Batman Beyond comics needed a Continuity Reboot.
    • Some are happy that this series' broader approach to continuity means that storytelling is no longer tied down to the DCAU, as well as allowing characters like Damian Wayne and Luke Fox to make proper appearances despite being Exiled from Continuity due to having been introduced after the animated series began. This also allows writers to undo the unpopular revelations made in the previous volumes (see Author's Saving Throw).
    • Others believe that there was still a lot of potential in where the series was heading, with new characters being introduced and plot threads being followed up from where the original series left off. Add into the fact that the Rebirth series got off to a really rocky start, many fans think that the series would have been better off left apart from the main DCU.
  • Fanon Discontinuity: Some fans of the animated series were already disregarding its first comic adaptation, but this series is also one that some purists would rather ignore. The bleak first few arcs and spinning out of the highly divisive The New 52: Futures End didn't help matters. Like its predecessor, ignoring the continuity of the show is justified by the fact that this series is directly tied to the DCU, but this aspect can be easily lost to casual readers and fans.
