• Adorkable: Scott going fully into his nerdy interests can be both amusing and endearing to see.
• Harsher in Hindsight: A strip harping on Donald Trump's presidential campaign announcement doesn't look so good given that the man got himself successfully elected.
• Hilarious in Hindsight: One strip has Scott discussing Mario Kart while Missy narcs on how people would rather play smartphone games. A few years later, Mario Kart Tour came out for smartphones.
• Seasonal Rot: At some point after the five-hundred comic mark of the comic's original run, it began to get repetitive due to Scott having trouble coming up with new ideas. Some instructions were revisited and reruns became more frequent, sometimes up to one a week for a three-day-a-week webcomic. To Scott's credit, he became aware of it and concluded the comic when he felt he'd reached a point where it wasn't worth going on, only coming back when he felt he could make it fresh again.
• The Woobie: The amount of crap Rick has to take, mostly from Scott, sometimes lands him in this territory.
