• Values Dissonance: The entire plot thread with Al the crossdresser reeks of 1970s transphobia. First of all there's the whole idea that a crossdresser can be arrested for an "unspecified misdemeanor". Barney, normally the Only Sane Man, has no problem putting Al behind bars for wearing a "disguise". Wojo makes a lot of transphobic comments for laugh lines (when Al says he was a Marine with the Purple Heart, Wojo says "I think I know where he got hit"), and Al is the butt of jokes throughout, with every cop being startled and doing a Double Take whenever they meet Al.
