• Hilarious in Hindsight: One of the toys Bagpuss wakes up next to in every episode is a model E2 class tank engine. Maybe that old cloth cat's magic is even more powerful than expected.
• Sweet Dreams Fuel: Gained many fans for its sweet and cozy atmosphere and the cute interactions between the toys.
• Tear Jerker: The ending to every episode is quietly saddening, as it is made apparent that whenever the toy is fixed and Bagpuss goes to sleep, he and the others cease to be alive and become normal inanimate toys. Especially so in the final episode, where we can only hope Emily continues getting items to summon her saggy old cloth cat back to life again.
• What Do You Mean, It's Not Political?: Oliver Postgate, was once giving a interview and the interviewer described that Bagpuss was a example of UK politics in the 70s. Afterwards he said “oh, I only saw them as toys”. Granted Postgate as a whole wasn't immune to such undertones, as he done an election satire episode of The Clangers in the same year as Bagpuss.
