• Creepy Cute: Bright Eyes, the changeling in Babs Seed's care.
• Cry for the Devil: Silver Spoon. She's cruel, has a nasty sense of humor, is fully willing to kill, and probably one of the evilest characters in the storyline, yet what little details you get about her past make it very clear she has suffered greatly. Her interactions with Trixie and Clear Rivers imply there still is goodness in her, but even she has given up on ever changing her ways.
• Genius Bonus:
  • Pavel's silver joke actually does make sense if you know "eggs" are Russian slang for testicles.
  • Silver Spoon referring to the Cake Twins as "Nicola and Bart" is a reference to Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti, two Italian-born anarchists who were (unjustly, according to common opinion) tried and executed for their beliefs in the 1920s.
  • Ms. Daydream's rant about the importance of "positive and negative lightning" sounds silly, but is actually a real thing. Given the difference between the two, the polarity of lightning would be a very important thing in a world where lightning was artificial.
• Heartwarming Moments: Chapter 41 has Babs Seed hug Bright Eyes on impulse when he agrees to do a potentially dangerous task for her. The way he panics and struggles, and then calms down and sadly hugs her back pretty clearly implies he has never gotten so much as a shred of true affection in his entire life.
• The Woobie: Pretty much the entire main cast has their moments, but Scootaloo takes the cake. She lost her eye and was left with too crippled of a wing to fly after nearly falling to her death, buried her own mother while still a filly, and grew up all alone thinking her friends were dead and haunted by the idea that it was her fault both Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash died. Even worse is that she seems quite tough and chipper... until she's alone.
