- They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character:
- Joy Page was set up as the Love Interest, only to succumb to the Lizard King's biochemical experiment.
- The Lizard King had the potential of being the Big Bad, due to his connection with Aztek's father, while Tezcatlipoca looms over them.
- Tezcatlipoca, who was the Bronze Age Wonder Woman villain, could have eventually shown up and revamped as a Darker and Edgier God of Evil. However, this got Arc Welded into the finale of JLA (1997) where it was revealed the "Tezcatlipoca" Aztek was preparing for was, in fact, the Old Gods' weapon, Mageddon, not the Wonder Woman villain.
- Quetzalcoatl first appeared in War of the Gods, so the writers could have used him for this series.
- They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot:
- How Vanity City figures into the Q Society and Aztek's mission.
- A reunion between Aztek and his mother.
