• Fandom Rivalry: With Doron Dororon, due to them both being yokai-themed series that debuted weeks apart.
• Germans Love David Hasselhoff: The manga was positively received in North America, to the point that many fans thought it would be the next big battle shonen series. The reception was far colder in Japan, however, and it was cancelled after reaching its 25th chapter.
• Magnificent Bitch: Urara is the daughter of the great Yōkai Enma Syndicate ruler Kioh. After her father's passing, Urara determines to take over the demon underworld, testing and recruiting the moronic but strong hero Maruo Kaido and building up her power base for this purpose. Expanding her Yakuza family by telepathically instructing Maruo as her champion in duels, Urara sets herself up to have Maruo defeat the current Enma head so she may cement her rule.
• They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: Hashihime. As the one who was put in charge of attending to Urara, she could've made a good mentor figure, and it would've been interesting to have her interact with Urara more. Instead, she is killed off during Maruo's fight with Doppo, and she has few moments to shine as she loses both fights that she is involved in.
