YMMV / Avalon: Web of Magic

• Ho Yay: Silvan/Lucinda seemed to have a very...intense friendship. Emily/Adriane seem rather close as well, and Kara/Adriane. In fact, it almost seems as though the author tacked on a Token Romance for each character just to make them look more straight.
• Stoic Woobie: Adriane. She is cold and aloof because her parents are constantly moving, so she never had a home, or any friends, until they all but dumped her with her grandmother in Ravenswood. Even then, she doesn't really get along with most of the schoolmates, being mostly known as the freak who lives in the woods.
• Sweet Dreams Fuel: Everything. The series may center around battling the forces of evil, but its philosophy is stubbornly optimistic and focuses often on the pure wonder of magic.
• Tear Jerker: Stormbringer's Disney Death in Trial by Fire for many fans, as well as Emily killing Ozzie in Dark Mage.
• Unintentional Period Piece: Kara getting rainbow hair in All That Glitters is not only treated as though Kara would end up a laughing stock at school but was treated as an impressive feat of hair coloring. By the 2010's and 2020's not only are bright and bold hair colors significantly more commonplace but so is dying one's hair rainbow colored.
