• Awesome Music: Akira Ifukube's talent is shown again:
  • The Volunteer Corps Swing Into Action!. An epic militaristic march with a majestic sound to it.
  • The opening theme. Bombastic and proud.
• Badass Decay: Mu Agent 23. Once a considerable threat, now a henchman doing nothing against the Atragon.
• I Am Not Shazam: Despite the title, there is no such thing as Atragon in the original version of the film and in the newer English dub. The titular undersea warship is called the Gotengo but was changed to Atragon for the Titra English dub. And international releases are called Atoragon as a reference to Manda being an "Atlantis dragon", despite said versions still calling Manda by his original name in the film, and Manda not even coming from THE Atlantis. Even with this, some newcomers still mistakenly call either the Gotengo or Manda "Atragon".
• Special Effects Failure: The miniature effects in this film aren't quite up to the usual Toho standards, especially the ones that involve water. It's often very obvious that the Atragon is just a small model on strings and that Manda is just a puppet.
