- Alternative Character Interpretation: What caused Léon Duchemin to steal the plans of the German superweapons? A repressed feeling (at least up to this point) that he should do something like La Résistance does? Or just him being a Glory Seeker who fancies the British military (or king) giving him the "Victoria Cross" for bringing the plans to them, as his Dude, Where's My Respect? moment would suggest?
- Spiritual Successor: To 1966's La Grande Vadrouille, being a comedy set in France during the German Occupation, and starring two actors from that film (Bourvil and Terry-Thomas). Bourvil plays a good-natured but reluctant average Frenchman who must flee from the Germans with at least one shot down British bomber pilot in both films.
