- Esoteric Happy Ending: The ending turns into this when you realize that, assuming the history of the Asterix universe is the same as ours, Brutus will get his revenge by eventually assassinating Julius Caesar, Cleopatra will commit suicide, and baby Caesarion will eventually be the final Pharaoh of Egypt, ultimately ending with Egypt being annexed by Rome and Caesarion (or Ptolemy XV as he will then be known) being executed on the orders of his other adoptive brother, Augustus Caesar.
- Moral Event Horizon: Brutus crosses it when he attempts to murder a baby Caesarion so he can ensure his place as Caesar's true heir.
- Nightmare Fuel: The burning of the village at night is one of the few truly horrifying scenes in the series, with the entire scene cast in shades of red and black as the villagers frantically struggle into their clothes and the men make a desperate but furious counterattack while Impedimenta leads the women and children to safety on the beach- only to be ambushed by Brutus, who has been waiting for them there. The women haven't had any potion either, despite attempting to bluff to the contrary.
