• Cerebus Syndrome: The storylines surround the resurrection of Howie's ex-wife Sonia Green have introduced an element of drama to the series.
  • Howie acknowledges that the real world has given the series a more somber tone during the American political troubles of 2017.
• Death of the Author: Discussed in "The Hound," although not by name. Lovecraft apparently ascribes to the idea, even in regards to his own works.
• Follow the Leader: Several of Kessler's fans have started their own 'reanimated dead celebrity' channels including Ernest Hemingway, Joseph Roth and his ex-wife Sonia Greene.
• Genius Bonus: In "Space" Howie expresses a desire that mankind visit new worlds, except for Eurpoa. Just in case.
• Harsher in Hindsight: During the 2016 American election cycle Howie became excited about the 'apocalyptic possibilities' of a Trump presidency and his hope of Trump being the 'last American president'. Come the election...
• Mood Whiplash: While the series usually is a light-hearted Black Comedy, episodes like "Clark Ashton Smith" and "Sonia" tackle more somber and reflective topics.
• Shown His Work: The casual familiarity Kessler shows in recounting Lovecraft's life and attitudes in-show is a result of reading hundreds if not thousands of Lovecraft's letters and many records and accounts of his life. This is even more impressive with his live shows in which he improvises answers for each question without time for preparation.
