• Alternative Character Interpretation: Did the hounds' starved frenzy just give Giles a heart attack? Or did they actually try to eat him themselves?
• Harsher in Hindsight: The Fox Hunt in this episode takes on an unsavory flavor when one realizes it's the cruel practice of taking an innocent fox and forcing it to run for its life from an unfair amount of starved dogs. In other words, Mon Petit Rouge, Pam and her dogs were all victims of this barbaric tradition, one way or another.
• Retroactive Recognition: Mia Kirshner as Pam and Dora, years before her best remembered roles in The L Word and Star Trek: Discovery.
• Values Dissonance: Pam's mother honking the horn to stop her from getting on the horse makes her look extremely careless at best, and abusive at worst. She doesn't seem to care about injuries that could have been caused by startling the animal, and it's treated as Pam's own fault for disobeying her.
• Values Resonance: With sympathetic portrayal of both the hounds and an adopted pet fox, the episode is accessible to those opposed to, in favour of and undecided on fox hunting. After a contentious ban on hunting of wild foxes, this feels quite apt.
