- Hilarious in Hindsight: The "Earth-1, Earth-2" concept of the film that is very similar to the DC Comics becomes funny when the actor playing Rhoda's younger brother eventually gets cast in a DC Comics-based show.
- Retroactive Recognition: Rhoda's younger brother is played by Robin Lord-Taylor, who will eventually be known as The Penguin.
- Sci Fi Ghetto: Some sci-fi fans may not give it a chance once they hear it's not really sci-fi. Some drama fans may see the trailers and think it's sci-fi.
- Slow-Paced Beginning: This movie starts sloooooow. If you're a sci-fi fan, you may be tempted to stop watching because the science is totally off - however eventually it does turn into a very intriguing drama piece - so long as you recognize the film is drama, not sci-fi.
- They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: The entire premise of there being a second Earth in the sky is left to the wayside as a backdrop for a by-the-books generic redemption story.
