• Iron Woobie: Judy is a sweet kid whose haunted by being able to see (often malevolent) ghosts, and is shunned by most of her classmates. She manages to keep up a brave face for it all though, and takes comfort in the friends and advantages that she does have.
• Nightmare Retardant: The Black Shuck. Essentially a werewolf made of fog, the concept of the Black Shuck is terrifying and it is extremely aggressive. That said, it is also made of low-quality CG which makes it look unrealistic. It also does not seem to have the same omnipresence the other ghosts and spirits have. When Bob hid in the chicken coop, it did not seem to be able to find him. When Judy had to retrieve Mary Ellen's inhaler, while it could tear into the car roof easily enough, it could not get to her directly. Lastly, Bob was able to very temporarily incapacitate it by smashing his guitar against it. While the Black Shuck reformed almost immediately, it was still taken down by being smashed with a guitar.
• One-Scene Wonder: The Endearingly Dorky pizza guy who spends his brief screen time embodying humorous stoner cliches and advising Bob to serenade Mary Ellen with rock-and-roll.
