YMMV / Angry Birds Star Wars

Go To

  • Awesome Music: The remixes of the main theme, the Imperial March in the first one, and The Force Theme and Duel of the Fates in the second one are great to listen to.
  • Fridge Logic: In Star Wars II, Count Dooku is portrayed as a pig, but assuming the fact that he was a former Jedi, shouldn't he be a bird, like Anakin?
    • The same logic applies to characters like Captain Panaka and Agent Kallus, the former becoming an Imperial Moff and the latter a Rebel spy.
  • Funny Moments:
    • Several from the first game’s trailer:
      • We get to see the famous scene where Obi-Wan attacks a patron that is disturbing Luke, but he cuts a pickle in half instead of his arm!
      • Obi-Wan gambling with Han Solo, which leads to him exploding like the original Bomb.
      • When the main four characters escape in the Millennium Falcon, the Falcon hits a nearby building before properly going into space.
    • In the first game, Luke accidentally wreaks havoc with his lightsaber when he first uses it, even setting Obi-Wan’s robes on fire.
    • When Luke and Vader do their final battle in Death Star 2, Palpatine pulls out popcorn and a slushy.
    • In the second game, many of the Pork Side characters do the over-the-top death scream that pigs normally do whenever you defeat them in a level whenever they disintegrate, making it seem hilariously painful.
    • In the second game, the way you can use any character in a level can naturally lead to this. Not only can you use the original trilogy characters in the levels that are supposed to be based on the prequel trilogy, but if you enable Bird Side characters on Pork Side levels or vice versa, you can make characters fight the characters that they are supposed to be fighting alongside. It gets even better in boss levels or levels that feature Stormtroopers, Battle Droids, Imperial Officers, or Tusken Raiders as enemies, as you can make characters fight themselves!
  • Game-Breaker: Many in the second game:
    • When it comes to hunting for hidden objects that unlock special levels, the purchasable Tusken Raider works wonders. Simply launch him anywhere, touch the hidden item on the level, and it's yours in an instant.
    • Pork Side Anakin has an ability where he pulls everything in close range towards him with the force, then throws it out at a high force. Darth Vader has this ability, and it’s even more powerful.
      • Also, in the first game, he obliterates pretty much everything, though you can only use him at the end of the final boss fight with Darth Sidious. However, he can also be flung over and over again until you finish off Sidious, meaning he can be great for racking up extra points if you're short of the three-star score.
    • Hologram Darth Sidious and the Shadowtrooper, which are variations of Darth Sidious and the Stormtrooper, except before activating their normal ability, they can phase through blocks.
    • Kanan Jarrus and The Inquisitor can fly anywhere you tap, charging through things and using a double-lightsaber, respectively.
  • Moment of Awesome: Being able to play as Darth Vader in final boss of the first game.
  • Porting Disaster: A mild one, but for some reason all the console ports of the first game skip the last two chapters ("Moon of Endor" and "Death Star 2") and replace it with a completely new chapter called "Exclusive Levels", an unrelated chapter full of new, usually massive levels, (not unlike the Trilogy's bonus levels) leaving the game with No Ending.
  • Rescued from the Scrappy Heap: In the original movies, Jar Jar Binks was the most hated character, even by people who unironically loved the prequels. In this game, however, his ability is pretty useful and fun to use, and he’s not as annoying in the cutscenes.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: In the second game, some characters from the first game are notably absent, such as the Mynocks, The Rebel Pilots (even though they are literally the first characters introduced in the Death Star chapter), and Grand Moff Tarkin. Some characters are introduced in the second game but aren't in the first one, but most of them are Stormtrooper variants instead of more important characters like Admiral Ackbar. Also, there are some characters present such as Boss Nass, Sebulba, the Jawas, and several other Jedi characters that could have been playable instead of only being in cutscenes (or as enemies in the case of Sebulba and the Jawas).
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: The second game has three entire episodes based on The Phantom Menace, but the only episodes based on Attack of the Clones are Rise Of The Clones and the Bird Side portion of Revenge Of The Pork. Not to mention, the entirety of Revenge of the Sith was crammed into the Pork Side portion of Revenge Of The Pork. Also, they made a whole episode based on the Rebels TV series, which could have easily been swapped out for Revenge Of The Sith. While the later episodes were still good, it is noticeably lacking compared to the first game, which had two episodes representing each movie.
  • Unexpected Character: Star Wars Rebels characters in general. The main priority of Star Wars II was to cover the prequel trilogy in the style of Angry Birds, seeing Rebels stuff was a complete surprise.
