  • Overshadowed by Controversy: The film today is most famous for causing the real life murders of reportedly 10 people, and Edward James Olmos getting extorted for years by the real life Mexican Mafia to prevent from being killed himself. This was mainly because of the scene of founding member Montoya Santana getting raped when he was younger. Real life members claimed this never happened and that it disrespected the honor of their founding member's legacy. Danny Trejo in an interview claimed that they also were disrespected by Olmos claiming he had received permission from the then-head of the Mexican Mafia to make the movie but the leader in question said this never happened.
