YMMV / America (The Book)

Go To

  • Hilarious in Hindsight:
    • One of the book's jokes is that, in 2015, Americans will embrace a concept called "Obeausity", in which Americans give up on reducing obesity and instead start to view it as beautiful. The New '10s would see the rise of the "Fat Acceptance" and "Healthy at Every Size" movements, which claimed that "all bodies are beautiful" but got pushback from those, including the medical community, who felt that they downplayed, ignored, or denied the health risks of obesity.
    • From page 40:
"By placing no explicit race, gender, or religious requirement on the presidency, the Founders opened the door to true meritocracy. Why no women, blacks, or non-Christians have answered the Founders' challenge is a mystery, though most indications point to some inherent genetic flaw."
    • One of the objects placed in a time capsule is an iPod to commemorate Apple's Last Stand.
  • I Am Not Shazam: Done in reverse. Stewart calls Peter Garrett the "Midnight Oil guy" when he talks about how drunk you must be (fourteen beers) to think he looks like Britney Spears.
