- Awesome Music: The soundtrack for Project Altered Beast is impressive like its 1988 original counterpart.
- Funny Moments: Fighting the chicken mooks in the Residental Area of the PS2 game. While it's pretty gory, the chicken mooks' agony sounds are quite funny as hell.
- Nausea Fuel: The transformation sequences in Project Altered Beast are incredibly graphic, with such lovely scenes of the player's eyeballs exploding and flesh getting ripped apart, all shown in full detail.
- Nightmare Fuel: The transformation scenes in Project Altered Beast. Just see for yourself (WARNING: NSFW).
- That One Boss: While the multi-part nature of the final battle is already a problem, players single out the fourth part, which is to be battled with the Garuda and thus adds troublesome airborne controls.
- Too Bleak, Stopped Caring: The game fell victim to this trope. Even the main character can be amoral at times, plus a horrible world where everyone is just sane enough to take down each other.
- What Do You Mean, It's Not for Kids?: The game somehow managed to receive a 12+ rating from PEGI, despite the huge presence of blood and gore (especially in the transformation sequences) feeling much more at home in an 18+ rated game. Even more strange is that the game received the much more appropriate 18+ rating from Japan's rating boards system, CERO. In Autralia, it got a MA 15+ rating.
