  • And You Thought It Would Fail: This is a Werewolf story released after Wolf Bride, one of the more infamous stories on the Choices app, so a fair amount of people didn't have high expectations. However, they were pleasantly surprised and feel this story fixed many of the issues with Wolf Bride; A Gender of Choice main character, the love interest (Channing) doesn't kidnap you, the Pack are friendly and affable for the most part, and we get a few chapters of Tal being a Werewolf and adjusting to this change. As such, it became the first GOC book to get a sequel since Immortal Desires (of which the first book was released almost a year and a half prior).
  • I Knew It!: Fans correctly guessed that Markus was the one behind the poisonings and that he's a werewolf hunter, due to his relentlessness with getting Tal to turn against them and his dislike for them since the beginning.
  • Moral Event Horizon: Markus was revealed to have crossed it in Chapter 18 when he was shown to be the one responsible for poisoning Kala, followed by him vowing to kill the members of Alpha Tau one by one.
  • Nightmare Fuel: The shot of Kala's poisoned, unconscious body at the end of Chapter 17.
  • Realism-Induced Horror: In a story about werewolves (complete with a werewolf hunter as the Big Bad), what stands out as genuinely unnerving is Markus' behavior towards Tal. He becomes jealous of Channing for "stealing Tal away", uses his position as the college journalist to write a slam piece about how the fraternity Tal joined is a cultnote , and finally attempts to kill Channing and cripple Tal in the Book 1 finale (even planning to keep them as a pet), but not before giving Tal a speech on how he would have done anything for them if they hadn't chosen Channing over him. As such, Markus shocked and repulsed the fandom with behavior and mannerisms that heavily resemble that of an incel, which sticks out like a sore thumb for how realistically close to home it is in a story like this.
