Many people find her irredeemable Bitch in Sheep's Clothing who has no qualms stealing Spencer from Olivia herself, and pretend that she is an evil mastermind who orchestrated a plan to steal Spencer from Olivia to spite her, despite forgetting Spencer's role in the situation, as he was also the one who pursued Layla relentlessly, ignoring Olivia's signals, and that Layla was already in a relationship at the time, and her spot with Spencer as her boyfriend are defined to be irritated. She has fans for most reasons and most people have sympathy for her because the trauma that she went through, also it did change the fact she had Character Development in season 3.
• Die for Our Ship: Layla is deeply hated and loathed by Spencer/Olivia shippers, to a point where it goes beyond the borders of outright misogynoir (usually affects the actress, Greta Onieogou, as well).
• Moral Event Horizon: Tyrone is already a violent gangbanger but the moment he crosses the line with everyone in the series is when he has Shawn murdered, even after Shawn tries to leave his gang on amicable terms. From there, he makes an enemy of every character and they’re all set on taking him down which ends with him being shot. Even when Tyrone is killed himself by a drive-by shooting by Shawn's mom, there’s very few tears shed at his funeral other than from his family.
• The Woobie: Coop, who gets consistently dumped on each season with gang-related storylines.
