- Narm: Quite a bit of it:
- The majestic winged centaur is made completely ridiculous by a design that looks like a horse with a gigantic human head and wings sprouting from its neck. It's even worse with the Special Effect Failure due to outdated CGI.
- Seán Cullen plays the Happy Medium as a campy androgynous buffoon who giggles at everything.
- Meg's clumsy Easy Evangelism speech in which she stands on a podium and declares, "Like and equal are not the same!"— which results in everyone on Camazots turning away from evil and the Darkness being defeated is a dramatic low point.
- Retroactive Recognition: Munro Chambers played one of the twins, and is now recognized for his role as Eli in Degrassi: The Next Generation.
- Uncertain Audience: Marketed to children despite its rather complicated source material, which is typically handed out to children closer to high school age. Its highly confused trailers, which suggested a mixture of action, adventure, horror, science fiction, fantasy, etc. didn't really help to settle the intended tone of the final product.
