• Harsher in Hindsight: Hannu pretending to be dying after he crosses the border into Tuonela is just a funny little prank used to mess with Ville. Becomes a bit less funny when it turns out he was actually dying, and would die once Puppy Fox lifted the time stasis.
• Nightmare Fuel: All the monsters are pretty horrifying, each one increasingly decayed and drawn in loving detail. The fairly fluffy tone of the rest of the comic doesn't help.
  • First is a giant pike, head as large as a rowing boat, More Teeth than the Osmond Family, and one eye gouged out. Jaws ain't got nothing on this.
  • Second, the elk of Hiisi, made of rotting wood and with flowers growing from its eyesockets and, again, far too many teeth.
  • Third, Tuomi, Paju's teenage brother, is disturbingly nonchalant about putting his friends into a never-ending sleep, all because they were annoying him- they were just trying to figure out how to get home.
  • Fourth, the Swan of Tuonela, which goes through The Shining territory and out the other side.
• Paranoia Fuel: The whole premise. Because of a screw-up by some young spirit, a random village gets sucked into a dream-world, and the only reason they didn't all die is because one of them happened to be in the woods at the time. And since said young spirit is a sociopathic little jerk, he might still kill them all just to cover up his mistake.
