YMMV / A Quiet Place Part II

Go To

  • Catharsis Factor: Given how the dock bandits seemed intent on killing Emmett and doing who knows what with Regan, it's difficult to feel bad when they get viciously slaughtered by two of the creatures, especially their leader.
  • Funny Moments: Emmett tries to tell off Regan for running off... only to remember halfway into his diatribe that she's deaf. After several attempts to get it across to her, she finally grabs his head and speaks to him.
    Regan: Enunciate. Remember?
  • He's Just Hiding: Since the islander played by Djimon Hounsou isn't killed onscreen after being dragged away by a monster, some fans hold out a little hope that he's still alive (as unlikely as it is, judging from the screams heard after the creature yanks him outside).
  • Memetic Mutation: Many believed/joked that the movie should have been called A Quieter Place.
  • More Popular Replacement: Despite the characters in-universe constantly criticising Emmett for not being like Lee, many viewers found the flawed and emotionally broken Emmet to be a more interesting and identifiable male lead than the more unrealistically over-competent Lee.
  • Nightmare Fuel:
    • The opening sequence, showing us the day the aliens first arrived. The whole town's gathered at the baseball field for a fun Little League game, only for everyone to go quiet and drop everything they're doing as a flaming meteor appears in the sky before silently and unanimously agreeing to call it a day and head back to their homes to take shelter in place until the cops can figure out what's going on. Then the aliens attack the town and it turns into complete chaos.
    • During the aforementioned opening, Lee talks to the cop Ronnie, with their tone conversational about the meteor and Ronnie even joking as he turns to his car, with chatter over the radio. Then the first of the creatures barrels in out of NOWHERE and shoulder checks into the cop's car, flipping it over and starting a mass panic from the local civilians.
    • This time around, the audience gets to see how the aliens kill their prey. Even though it’s a quick glimpse (and the person was trying to kill Emmett), it’s not pretty to see the guy get torn to shreds with savage and almost uncanny movements.
    • While fleeing from the monsters, Marcus steps on a bear trap. As if Agony of the Feet isn't bad enough, his wails of sheer agony as his mother tries to keep him quiet are equal parts gutwrenching and spine-chilling.
  • One-Scene Wonder: Okieriete Onaodowan shows up as a cop in the opening sequence who shrugs off getting attacked by an alien and pulls off a badass Heroic Sacrifice.
  • Ron the Death Eater: Marcus gets hit hard with this, even more so than in the first film. Multiple entries on this very wiki paint him as a useless burden and a screaming coward who has a panic attack every time he stubs his toe, with every action he does making things worse for everyone else. These complaints tend to ignore the fact that the reason he's out of action for most of the film is because he was injured by a bear trap, and screaming at that extreme amount of pain is an involuntary reaction, even for the vast majority of adults - much less an already sickly child. And while leaving the cellar to snoop around Emmett's place was a foolish call, Marcus does this while under a ton of stress, pain, and likely getting claustrophobic.
