YMMV / A Cold Winters Night

  • Alternative Character Interpretation: The author has taken the interpretation that Abby genuinely loves Owen, albeit selfishly. Likewise, it's not clear how manipulative the two children have become over the years.
  • Angst? What Angst?: For a twelve-year old, Owen doesn't seem to be particularly bothered by never being able to go home in After the Sunset, although given how bad his life was and how attached he is to Abby, it could be considered justified.
  • Moral Event Horizon: Arguably, the pair cross it when they kill a woman's young daughter to avoid being caught and then rationalize it afterward.
  • Nightmare Fuel: Abby's attack from the victim's perspective in the fourth story, The Warmth of Spring.
