- Fan-Preferred Couple: Most fans hope Kallen and Euphie become a couple during the story since both women are intelligent and respect each other despite their different stations.
- The Scrappy: Cole, an original character who's an Ashford student whose father works with Princess Euphie, gets this treatment by fans who feel he was only created as a Love Interest for Kallen. Many fans hope the author would have Lelouch kill Cole with the hope this might lead to their Fan-Preferred Couple. Amusingly, Cole was originally intended to end up with Euphie after his relationship with Kallen fell apart.
- Unexpected Character:
- Many of the real life characters in the E.U are this: usually limited to just Rommel the E.U in Cold Calculus has a lot of other real life generals from this time period, and most of them of lesser renown than the Desert Fox.
- More importantly though, Chapter 39 has an appearance by Zero.
