Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: The rather dark and synthesized song "4 Ever 2 Gether" could be seen as this, as The Lexicon of Love up until that track has been a symphonic disco-tinged New Wave MusicConcept Album, and the Mood Whiplash is quickly abandoned with the final track, "Look of Love (Part 4)".
Hilarious in Hindsight: The U.S. Top 20 hit "(How to Be a) Millionaire", and its repeated line of "Who wants to be a millionaire?", became this around 13 years after the song's release, when the American version of the game show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? debuted. Guess which network it aired on. Taken a step further when Paul Shaffer and the CBS Orchestra later began using this song to introduce Regis Philbin on The Late Show with David Letterman, during and after his tenure as host of Millionaire.
Tough Act to Follow: The Lexicon of Love was such a huge success with so many iconic songs the band has struggled to replicate its success with only Alphabet City coming close.
