Word Of God / Luz Clawthorne

Go To

There's been several things that the authors of Luz Clawthorne have confirmed over the course of the series, either by reviews or messaging here.

  • Rocky is an acoustic bass guitar.
  • Amity's middle name is "Mittens", implied to be because Odalia had chosen it while she was on pain medication.
  • Harry Houdini was (probably) a charming gentleman thief-type criminal known for his showmanship from the Boiling Isles who escaped arrest.
  • Lilith met Ford Pines around 20 years prior to the events of the series.
  • G.B. Gates has been to the Boiling Isles at some point.
  • The Inner Demon is not more powerful than Bill Cipher in the Mindscape.
  • Luz won't receive a witch's wool cape because she thinks they're tacky and it would clash with her fashion sense.
  • The bug in the Owl House is the reason the Emperor found out about Lilith blackmailing Odalia with the Abomitons being seen as a private army.
  • When asked by Shuffollower if Luz ever apologized to Amity for the way she ended their relationship near the end of Book 1, both authors said they believe that she did so offscreen, which may double as Shrug of God.
  • Following Chapter 45, Cat's parents allowed her to rejoin the Human Appreciation Society. This was officially seen In-Universe in "Chapter 53: Whatever Happened to Anu Bist?"
  • Eclipsa Butterfly is the creator of the Eclipse Escape Dungeon. The "Eclipse" part is actually a misspelling; the "a" is flipped upside down.
  • Marco Diaz is alive, but whether he was involved with what happened on Mewni was not made clear. It's also unclear whether or not Star Butterfly survived, but a Q&A published after "After the War"'s release confirms they'll appear in the second half of Book 2.
    • It's been confirmed that the second half of Star vs. the Forces of Evil (the last two seasons) didn't happen and Eclipsa is still crystalized.
  • Lilith told the Owl House residents about her being Amity's godmother shortly after Book 1 ended.
  • There will be a third book based on OH Season 3, and it'll be extended from whatever canon has planned.
  • Hades gave up his plans of conquest after being defeated by Hercules: before he escaped the Well of Souls, the Olympian Gods put someone else in charge of the Underworld and when he returned, he was stuck co-ruling it with them.
  • Goonla is biologically 150 years old, but in human years, he would be 40.
  • Boris is in his early 20's by the time he makes his present day debut.
  • Zepher and Brian were also Glandus students like Bangles, with the latter being a bard.
  • The reason Witch Rick knew about Luz being a cambion is because he knew the theory and saw her sprouting wings at the petrification ceremony. Odds are, Dr. Bride probably confirmed it to him.
  • Because of their involvement in several plots and events as well as their Character Development, both authors officially declared Boscha, Skara and Hunter main characters in the story midway through Book 2.
  • Details and plots regarding the "What If" chapter have been revealed just in case the authors decide to make it a full story:
    • Luz would start meeting Eda in secret, both to get to know her aunt more and to learn about magic.
    • To keep Lilith from getting suspicious, Luz has Vee take her place while she's visiting the Owl House.
    • Hunter might enroll in Hexside after Luz's bad first day, since he wants to be there to protect Luz (who he sees as a younger sister).
    • Due to Amity's actions, Lumity won't happen and Luz would enter a relationship with Willow instead. Meanwhile, Amity would be seen as an enemy and possibly ends up in the Emperor's Coven, where she'd be even more unhappy due to her falling out with Luz.
    • The "Glandus War" Arc would occur differently since the slayground incident never happened and thus Emily wouldn't have been cursed. The biggest changes would be that Emily proudly displayed her status as an illusionist by wearing a Glandus uniform with Illusion blue sleeves, and she'd become Luz's friend.
    • After Nicole gets her, Willow and Gus expelled in Book 2, Luz would get her friends back in and transfer to Glandus at Emily's suggestion, which would stick as she'd want a fresh start. Nina would be the Queen of Glandus High, Boscha would be the one to start the school war, and she & Nicole probably wouldn't receive punishment for all of their villainous actions until the end of the arc.
    • Without Willow's friendship, Skara would never reconcile with Bo and with Boscha getting worse, they would've become the equivalent of Emily and Stella.
    • Without Luz and Amity catching his interest, Puck wouldn't stay on the Isles thus omitting his role.
  • The prank Kitsuni and Jack (Anu Bist) pulled on Ancient Egypt was the story of Exodus, the destiny of Moses.
  • After the Amphibia series finale aired;
    • It was confirmed that Lady Olivia and General Yunan have a private, on-again-off-again relationship due to being interested in each other earlier than in canon, a result of Marcy being much closer to both of them since they helped raise her. It was initially left ambiguous until the episode aired so the outcome of the relationship could be confirmed.
    • After it was confirmed that Toadstool and Toadie were also together, it's said that Toadie still loves Toadstool even though he's not mayor anymore.
  • Ruth, the top potions student of Glandus High, is mute.
  • Since Tyler was roped into helping the Heirons and Dolly near the end of Book 1 and had no ill will towards Luz and Amity, his sentence in the detention track was shorter. That's why he's an Oracle tracker again in Chapter 60.
  • Everlasting Oaths can be broken should specific conditions be met. Amity confessing to her parents that she got mugged broke the oath keeping Edric and Emira from telling anyone, and Luz & Emily's oath from their duel was probably broken since Luz couldn't keep fighting and was ultimately useless since Emily was going to continue the school war anyway.
  • Due to Reunion Falls being part of the series, LC's timeline is set in 2012, 7-8 years earlier than the show. This was confirmed in "The Ballad of Eda (Part 2)", as Eda and Angel saw The Thing when it premiered in theaters in 1982. This also means Luz was born and Camila died in 1998, plus the Calamity trio was born a year later and got sent to Amphibia in 2005, which was when the events of American Dragon: Jake Long took place.
  • Due to the shortened third season, there's a chance Willow's birth mother either won't be revealed or is non-existent. If she will be, it definitely will not be Terra.
  • The 2017 version of Scrooge McDuck is the variant who appears as a member of the Order.
  • The day after Chapter 66 was posted, Buck confirmed to Crosshot that Tibbly Grimmhammer II is the Boss.
  • The afterlife is so complicated, that the difference between the Spirit World and the Underworld won't be elaborated.
  • As the Book 2 Q&A updates between Chapters 67 and 68 reveal:
    • Dr. Facilier's Living Shadow is a byproduct of his deal with Baron Samedi.
    • The Order was founded in the 20th century by Genie, Merlin, and Yen Sid, the latter being whom suggested the collaboration; their influence brought the other members together in order to keep peace and order between the realms and dimensions.
    • The Gates family came into power because G.B. Gates was able to gain a lot of influence in Gravesfield due to his personal experiences with witches.
    • The destruction of both Neverland and Mewni are connected.
    • Puck isn't actually the only "Puck" in the Fae community. Since Pucks are a kind of fairy in English folklore and due to forgetting his True Name, he adopted the name "Puck Goodfellow" as an alias.
    • Amity becoming part-Fae was a complete accident. When she and Puck made their deal, she received some of his power in order to save and protect Luz. Puck didn't even know this when he made the deal, further proving not even the Fae know the full ramifications of the deals they make.
    • The events of "A Midsummer Night's Dream" are what led to Oberon and Titania separating and the Fae being divided.
  • In response to questions asked by Crosshot & Shuffollower (who forgot to supply them for the Q&A):
    • There probably won't be any flashback revolving around the non-Disney members of the Order since they aren't relevant to current events.
    • Baron Samedi is the most prominent Loa, but there's a chance his wife Maman Brigitte as well as Papa Legba could make a potential appearance. This was confirmed in "Chapter 75: Amity in Echo Creek".
    • Luz, while a fan of Rock n' Roll & Metal music, also enjoys Punk Rock, usually Linkin Park.
    • The fight between Luz and Emily in Chapter 61 ended in a legitimate victory for Emily.
  • Honest John and Gideon were most likely killed at some point.
  • There won't be any major crossovers with any of the three shows in the Swampyverse. However, there'll be a few nods to said shows which is confirmed in Chapter 77.
  • Emperor Belos is not using the mind-link between himself and Luz to spy on her 24/7, it's strictly meant to possess her when the time is right. If he used it otherwise, Luz would've already learned he broke his word not to harm the BAT's.
  • #88 and #89 died due to their own stupidity at some point prior to "The Long, The Witch, and The Ninja".
  • The Gates family had been affiliated with the Huntsclan since the 1970s.
  • Regarding the basilisks, the Greater Basilisk is Number 2, Number 4 died in captivity, and Number 6 named himself "Ivy" in honor of Number 4.
  • The cast of I'm in the Band actually exists within the series, giving a legitimate reason behind Gus G's shirt.
  • Heinz Doofenshmirtz's Deleted Role from "Chapter 81: Back to the Falls" wasn't just a mention for a joke in "LC Sidetrack: How Calypso Saved Krampmus": he and Perry the Platypus really were going to appear and got cut.
  • Baron Samedi's voice will remain the same despite using a different body.
  • The age of Marilyn Clawthorne as she appears in Chapters 69 and 78 are between eleven and thirteen.
  • Two early clues that hinted Puck was the Shapeshifter is how he drove the Slitherbeast out of its cave to turn it into his lair, being aware of its location. The second was his using Fae dust to turn Dolly Tempus into a doll.
  • Cups and Mugs have run afoul with Hades, who is this fic's stand-in for the Devil, and at least one of them owe him their souls.
  • Maleficent is neglectful towards her daughter, Mel, hence why she prefers the Underworld over her mother's castle.
  • Both authors agree that Eve could be the fortune teller girl from the Oracle Coven seen in "Covention" (on account of her violet hair), but with an altered design. This would make her an Ascended Extra.
  • The reason Wander and Sylvia came to Earth is because they took a wrong turn.
  • Jacob Hopkins was at Purgatory during the events of "Fallen Angel".
  • The events of "Hollow Mind" will serve as the finale of the Back to the Isles arc.
  • Between Luz's expanded social circle, Jerbo & Barcus' Story Arcs being completed, and their being Out of Focus, the troublemakers were officially dropped from the main cast in Book 2, with Nina and Donna taking their places as of Chapter 94note .
    • Nina and Donna being added to the main cast was a combination of their shared status as fan favorite characters, the authors enjoying writing them, the former's friendship with Skara, and their UST-filled romantic arc.
  • Nina was 9 when she witnessed the death of her neighbor Mr. Tuggers and became an atheist as a result. She was 14 by the time she was enrolled into Glandus High.
  • When Glandus "publicly got rid of the Illusion track", Emily was put in the Construction track, which is how she met Cain.
  • Nina's siblings probably hate their parents and resent Cally for being the favorite child.
  • Camila and Manny had friends outside of the Gates siblings while living in Gatesfield, with Luke being Manny's friend from work.
  • There is no single top student for St. Epiderm's plant track, as Veronica, Cross, and Beel each tie for it. Besides having good grades and being strong, they have their own skills that would be worthy of the position (Veronica would have her magical power, Cross has his strategies, and Beel his intellect).
  • Felicity and Todd's relationship is an abusive one for Todd.
  • Teri is trans, which is why his horns are all black.
  • Very few people know that Terra is the Producer, and Emily is not one of them.
    • Outside of mortality potions, gods have alternative means to take away a god's godlihood.
  • Even though they've had no romantic moments between them, Buck went ahead and confirmed that Cross and Emily would not become{Love Interests. It's later solidified due to Incompatible Orientation.
  • 101 Dalmatian Street is not part of this shared universe, as evident by Cruella being a Sinner Demon in 2012.
  • Malphas has their own means of traveling between realms.
  • The Order has a rotating membership with different gods taking turns representing the Olympus pantheon.
  • According to LOWTH's character designs:
    • Tina is 15, Donna, Beocrow, and Veronica are 16, and Tyrone is 17.
    • Veronica is a biped faun demon and her flower bell palisman is named Belly. Tina and Tyrone's palisman are named Scruf Webster and Sheldon (who's confirmed to be based on the blue shell from the Mario Kart franchise.)
    • Beocrow's dream of being a death god originated from surviving a near-death experience with a demon bear.
    • Tyrone wants to be a baker, but his fathers are pushing him to join the Construction Coven.
  • Hercules: The Animated Series is part of this shared universe. Hades fell into the Lithe River at some point, causing him to forget that Hercules is still alive.
  • Blitzo is permanently banned from Loo Loo Land.
  • The Q&A between Chapters 107 and 108 discloses the following;
    • The authors' plans for Luz's alternate form and Amity being half-Fae haven't changed despite how lengthy Book 2 has become.
    • Gods are shapeshifters who can take alternate forms, hence why Eris looks different since her debut. Morpheus, who's the same character as in Hercules, has such a different design.
    • Baron Samedi is an unconventional good guy and doesn't actually want Lilith's soul; he's just using her to get what he wants.
    • Dipper has never gone to the Demon Realm prior to the events of the series.
    • Mel met Jackson thanks to the alliance between the Underworld and Wonderland, which was created because Hades and Persephone felt like Mel needed friends and they hoped she would get along with Jackson. As part of that alliance, Hades brought Jafar back to life and sent him to join the court of the Hearts royal family.
    • Belos has probably not used the Horned King to spy on his enemies.
    • Clair had unintentionally been made a Clawthorne due to her orange hair. This means that like Beocrow and Felix, Cross and Zee are also Luz and King's cousins with Cross being the biological relative to the former two along with Eda's family.
    • Principal Faust isn't part of the Emperor's Coven, but does whatever they ask of him.
    • If the Gatesfield teens were to obtain palisman, they would be as follows: Clara would have a corgi since she's a dog person, Masha and Dana would have a Pikachu and Heracross respectively, Rudo would get a lemur, and Gus G. a weasel.
    • If Kim Possible were to appear, then she'll be in debuting Book 3.
  • For Pride Month 2023;
    • Dana and Rudo are both confirmed to be straight characters, and JP thinks that Danny and Riley are Amicable Exes of a brief relationship.
    • Bo's parents were in a Love Triangle in their youth with Suzy and Jason fighting over Mark (who had hot, anime dad vibes) until the two realized they had a lot in common, leading to all three of them hooking up.
    • Wendy would have a female Love Interest if the authors could make it work, and she would be the lamest girl thought up to compliment Wendy's coolness.
    • Glinda is confirmed to be Emily's First Love.
    • Abigail is in the closet, and her initial suspicion towards Eda when they were teenagers is heavily implied to be partially fueled by jealousy under the belief that Eda and Angel were romantically involved.
    • Regarding Zee, Buck believes that she brings home a new romantic partner every week.
  • Sheila had once fallen into a bad crowd and gotten arrested.
  • Merlin Meadows is a new school in the present, not existing when Eda took part in the IFWOT 30 years ago. Slowly getting attention, it's the school below the "Big Three" (Hexside, Glandus, St. Epiderm) and their students are conscious of that fact.
  • Dog is confirmed to be 17 years old.
  • It's been confirmed that Amity talked to Boscha about where she got her copy of "The War on Witchcraft" offscreen.
  • Linkin and Eve have no romantic interest in each other and are Just Friends.
  • The Graux Sisters' tracks are Construction (Muka), Bard (Gorlei), and Oracle (Ashey).
  • All members of the Healing Coven know which families contain members with lycanthropy, so Zebra, Swan, the Row's, Hail, Damien, and Hettie Cutburn are in the loop about the Brookes, along with everyone knowing about Damien's family.
  • The figure that watched Matt enter the Bo residence in "Socket to Me" is a random Tarot Guild associate.
  • Hardy Boils has questioned Tito about Bria's disappearance at some point between "Understanding Hunter" and "Rings of Fire".
  • Regarding the gag about Horace's last name, it was eventually revealed that he actually doesn't have one, as his parents don't believe in them. Thus, his whole family is technically nameless.
  • Sora, Riku, and Kairi are from an alternate Earth.
  • Toy Story and Soul are not part of the LCU.
  • The Q&A following "Luz Clawthorne's Sidetrack: It's a Waybright Life".
    • Hercules had other team-ups with Aladdin, such as battles against Mechanicles and Mirage. The authors later clarified that their battle with Mirage is her final defeat.
    • Persephone knows the Morningstars, and finds Charlie an absolute delight.
    • The gods have the mortals believe that Persephone is Mel's biological mother to avoid scandal.
    • Despite the Dark Dragon having the same color pattern as Maleficent's dragon form, Mel has never heard of him.
  • With the Running Gag of two characters who share the same voice actor interacting being lampshaded as sounding alike, the reason why nobody ever points out Skara and Maya's voices sound alike is because "Maya sounds like Jasper".
  • Trini's parents work at Asmodeus' factory.
  • The Q&A following "A Lovely Night For an Auction".
    • Nuka is down in Hell, living with Scar and Zira.
    • Scar and Zira are implied to be planning on overthrowing Shere Khan.
    • LeFou ended up in Hell, and got exterminated by an Exorcist at some point.
    • Yzma ended up in Ukhu Pacha, but her soul got transferred to Hell once the former afterlife got shut down.
    • The Lion Guard doesn't exist in the LCU.
    • Shere Khan became an Overlord following the power vacuum that Alastor caused.
  • Osran is Belos' favorite among the coven heads due to his abilities, so he wouldn't punish the oracle for any of his actions.
  • Emira's the top student of Hexside's illusion track, with Edric being second. Gus would become the top student once the twins graduate.
  • All of Journey to the West has happened before the events of Mulan.
  • Angelic weaponry can permakill Fae.
  • Unlike in canon, Aqua has never attempted to assassinate someone she doesn't like.
  • Vanz Ator has worked with the Horned King before, and finding Philip and William was no accident.
