Crossovers
  • Inverted in Aegis where Amelia declares that if Xander isn't with the lycans, then he's with the vampires. He agrees when he realizes the other option is to be killed by one faction or the other.
  • Both Goh Fujihachi and Parker Cerise descend into this during the second arc of Infinity Train: Blossoming Trail:
    • Goh decides that anyone who doesn't give him exactly what he wants must be his enemy. This includes anyone expressing concern about anyone else who's boarded the Train; if they're not focused on Chloe and Chloe alone, he considers that to be betraying both her and him, as he needs to get her back in order to get everything back to normal.
      • Note that Goh also sees Chloe as a traitor because she doesn't want to return home. She was miserable in Vermillion (though partly because of her own refusal to open up to anyone else), feeling overlooked and bogged down by everyone's presumptions and expectations... and Goh decides that he doesn't care how she feels about it, blaming her for the whole situation, even if that isn't particularly false. He even fantasizes about forcing her back into her old role, deciding that if she suffers for it, that's a perk rather than a problem — proper payment for "betraying" him.
    • Parker, meanwhile, grows frustrated with how the bullies' Laser-Guided Karma after having their cruelty exposed doesn't feel as though it was enough to make up for how much they hurt his sister. He also worries about the potential of the adults breaking their promises again and letting things slip back to the way they were before, potentially causing him to lose his sister again... if she even makes it back in the first place. He only gets worse about this later on and tortures many people purely to make himself feel better about their supposed cruelty to Chloe.

Love Hina

  • An Alternate Keitaro Urashima:
    • As far as Granny Hina is concerned, anyone who doesn't support her scheming is a 'horrible disappointment'. She's incredibly upset when Keitaro wants no part of her plans for him, and chides Naru, Motoko, and the rest of the Hinata Girls for turning him away.
    • The majority of the Hinata Girls share this attitude. Either you go along with exactly what they or Granny Hina want, or there's something terribly wrong with you. Shinobu is the only one of the girls who doesn't share this all-or-nothing attitude, causing her no end of troubles; Haruka also falls afoul of this once they take over the Inn and start laying down the law.
    • Naru takes this to the extent that she considers Motoko losing her match with Keitaro to be a betrayal of the highest order, despite how they'd fully supported her and didn't intentionally lose that fight. As a result, she shows absolutely No Sympathy for the Humiliation Conga they suffer as a result, only caring about how she was forced to apologize to Keitaro.
  • For His Own Sake also has this as a shared Fatal Flaw amongst most of the Hinata Girls. Sarah also picked up this mentality from her time there; thanks to Naru and Motoko, she's convinced that she can get whatever she wants so long as she demands it... and if that doesn't work? Violence is surely the answer.

Love Live!

  • Shipping Wars: Dia Kurosawa from Love Live! Sunshine!! is the Fangirl variant of this trope when it comes to the idol group µ's. For example, she considers the pairing of NozoEli (Nozomi x Eli) a sacred bond and gets enraged that her friend Kanan says that she thinks EliUmi is a cute ship (and not even saying that she dislikes NozoEli), leading Dia to declare a debate over which ship is superior and even creates a PowerPoint presentation. And at the end, when it seems that things have calmed down, Dia starts the whole feud over again because Kanan likes Nico Yazawa instead of considering her The Scrappy like Dia does.
