The Kids
- Sho was originally supposed to be older than Mob for added Alternate Universe effect but the author decided that it would just be too much to move ages around like that.
- Mob's Princess Phase was supposed to last long into her teenage years.
- Minori Asagiri was supposed to make her first appearance at Mob and Sho's preschool but the author couldn't figure out how to add her into the story later on organically after the kids moved.
- Ritsu was supposed to become a member of the main cast after his appearance in Rocket Ship
but the author decided to let his story unfold off screen. - Teru was supposed to have been adopted into the Suzuki family after his appearance in The Gold Colored Aura but the author wasn't sure if Teru would end up with Mob yet or not.
- Mukai's mother was supposed to be Tsuchiya biologically but the author liked the idea of a parallel adoption story going on in the background.
Friends
- Minegsihi was originally meant to use male pronouns, not non binary ones.
- Serizawa was meant to make his appearance sooner after the first baby arc but the author wanted to establish the entire adult cast before introducing him.
- Shimazaki was originally meant to be more of an antagonist to the rest of the cast. Now he's just a pest.
- Shibata was meant to be the Only Sane Man in the group before Hatori joined.
- Hatori was also meant to fill the role of Only Sane Man before the author realized that it was more funny is nobody was sane.
- Shibata and Shimazaki were originally meant to have a relationship or at least a Friends with Benefits situation.
- Shibata was originally meant to have a bigger role in the baby arc but the author decided to keep it mostly within the Suzuki family.
- Shimazaki wasn't always meant to be such good friends with Sho but the audience liked the chemistry that the two of them had.
Parents
- Masami was originally meant to leave the family after the events of Futility but the author wanted to explore the slow death of the Suzuki family.
- There was originally meant to be more babyhood chapters for Sho and Mob to show what Masami and Suzuki were like as parents but the author wanted to get straight to childhood. Fragments of these ideas were incorporated into the baby Mukai arc.
- Suzuki was originally meant to refer to the kids as Boy and Girl instead of Son and Daughter.
- Fukuda and Suzuki weren't originally the old friends that they are later on.
- Masami was originally meant to run away with Fukuda but it was decided that it made for more drama if Fukuda stayed with the family.
- Masami was originally meant to let go of Mob emotionally much sooner, not make up with her somewhat in Bonding and Braiding
- Masami was at some point meant to become Mukai's biological mother.
- Fukuda was meant to bring Sho to Masami.
